Crossing Guard at Foster and Mont Clare

Dear St. Monica Academy Families,

Recently, the Chicago Public Schools informed the Office of Catholic Schools that it is eliminating crossing guard positions at 33 locations that serve Catholic school students throughout the city.

The crossing guard at Foster and Mont Clare, which impacts the students at St. Monica Academy, was one of the eliminated positions.

I am making you aware of this now because this intersection can be very busy, and I worry about the students who may be walking this route on their own.  I also want to give you time to prepare.  I will be discussing options with our team, but I also encourage you as parents to perhaps alter your route and/or travel in groups that have at least one adult present if this intersection is part of your walking route.

If you are interested in volunteering to replace this lost crossing guard position, please let me know as CPS has offered to provide training.  If there is interest, I ask that you let me know as soon as possible so I can let those organizing this training know of your interest.

If I learn more about this situation, I will keep you informed.

In His Name,

Wayne Wenzel, Jr.
