We want to celebrate our sixth grade Illinois EPA winners! Eight of our sixth-graders and Mrs. Ronchi were looking forward to attending the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s 2020 Poster, Poetry, and Prose Contest Awards Ceremony at the Old State Capitol in Springfield, IL on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Unfortunately, it was cancelled due to the Illinois stay-at-home order. Therefore, we would like to now celebrate our students’ awesome

We want to congratulate several of our St. Monica Academy seventh and eighth grade students participated in the 2020 Illinois Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) Chicago Non-Public Schools’ (Region 2) Science Exposition. We are proud of our young scientists, and we wish them continued success in future scientific endeavors! Thank you to our Outstanding Junior High Science Teacher, Mrs. Karen Ronchi for her guidance and expertise in leading our High Achieving Science Program!

April 17, 2020 Dear Catholic School Parents and Guardians, Earlier today, Gov. Pritzker announced the extension of the statewide closure of all schools in Illinois through the remainder of the academic year. As this announcement impacts Catholic schools, our Catholic school buildings will remain closed for the rest of the 2019/20 school year.

In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, it is with heavy hearts we have decided to postpone the St. Monica Academy Gala. While we were so excited to celebrate with our school and church community, the health and safety of our community comes first. From the Statement of the Archdiocese of Chicago "The decision to temporarily close our schools, beginning Monday, March 16, applies to all Catholic schools that are operated by the Archdiocese of Chicago. Catholic schools not operated by the archdiocese, such as those sponsored by religious orders, will make decisions individually. During this closure period, Catholic school students will be asked to complete academic work through electronic learning (“e-learning”) or alternative learning. Knowing that many families and students of our Catholic schools depend on the daily services we provide, the Office of Catholic Schools and archdiocesan leadership are working to coordinate extended support to those families and students most in need during this time. More information will be shared in the coming days"

We are looking forward to St. Monica Summerfest scheduled for Saturday, August 24th 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on the school play-lot at the southeast corner of the school property. This is a celebration of the Feast Day of St. Monica and our parish/school community. There will be Music, Food, Beer Truck, Bounce Houses, Dunk Tank, Mechanical Bull, Bags Tournament, 50/50 Raffle, Bingo, Children's’ Games, Bike Parade, and more! Come on out to have lots of fun on this day!

We have several new teachers and staff that we would like to welcome for the coming year. Here is a list them: Anastasia Berthold, PreK4 Teacher; Klaudia Leniart, 1st Grade Teacher; Hugo Santiago-Vazquez, Spanish Teacher; Geoff Wilson, Maintenance Supervisor; and Patrick Schultz, Operations Director for the Parish/School. I am excited about our new staff and all that they will offer to our school and students this year.

The air conditioning system was installed in July and is operating well. There are a few issues with the sensor control system and compatibility that we are working out but the overall system is working well.

St. Monica Academy wishes to acknowledge these Junior High students for their hard work and academic achievement during the Fourth Quarter of this school year. Congratulations!
