Dear St. Monica Academy Families,
I hope this message finds everyone well.
After celebrating the 75th anniversary of St. Monica church, now part of St. Monica-St. Rosalie Parish, with parishioners and school families, I shared a brief reflection with the faculty. One of the things that came across was how much St. Monica persevered. She prayed relentlessly for her son and husband. As I have learned more about her, I have to say perseverance is the quality I might admire most. It is a quality I think educators and parents must have. We can look at her perseverance, her relentlessness, and try to emulate that for our own families, as well as the young people our school families have entrusted us with. In Galatians 6:9 we find the following about persevering: Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up. Similarly, in Romans 12:12 we find: Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer. Perseverance, like St. Monica demonstrated, can be found throughout Scripture.
I am delighted to share the wonderful news that our Mustangs of the Month for October were selected and announced last Friday. It is with great pride and excitement that we recognize the exceptional achievements and contributions of these outstanding individuals to our school community. Our Mustangs of the Month stand out for their exemplary dedication, leadership, and commitment both in and outside of the classroom. They embody the core values of our school (Gospel-driven, excellence, unity) and serve as role models for all of us. It is through their remarkable efforts that they have not only excelled academically, but have also shown exceptional character, kindness, and a willingness to support and uplift their fellow students and teachers. The community congratulates and commends the following individuals for being selected as Mustangs of the Month for October 2023.
While we are highlighting recent success, here is the 1st Quarter list of middle school Honor Roll students for the 2023-2024 school year:
I am very proud to share that SMA recently competed at the Fenwick High School annual Math competition, finishing 10th of 22 in the small school division. A big congratulations to Magdaleno Nucum, who ranked 22nd out of the 142 competitors. Well done to all the students that participated:
This week you will be receiving information regarding Parent-Teacher Conferences which will be held on Monday, November 21 starting at 12pm.. An email with directions on how to sign up and and links to all of our faculty’s conference times will be sent.
Friday, November 10 is a non-student attendance day because of an archdiocese-wide professional development day.
Mrs. Fricano continues to recover. She sent a message thanking the community for all of their well wishes. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.
Visit the St. Monica Academy website to sign up for volunteer opportunities and to read about the importance of our fundraising efforts.
This is a great time to be a Mustang. If you know someone who would be interested in a tour, please have them call the school office to set up a time.
