Dear St. Monica Academy Families,
What a week for announcements! On Monday we welcomed our new interim principal, Allen Ackermann. Though he recently retired from a very rewarding 19 years at Saint Andrew School, where they implemented many new programs and achieved National Blue Ribbon status in 2013 and 2020, he has agreed to briefly come out of retirement to see St. Monica Academy through to the end of the 2022-2023 school year. He will only be with us a short time, but we are very happy to have Principal Ackermann become a part of the St. Monica Academy family!
Then this morning we sent out a separate email announcing our new permanent principal starting in the fall, Wayne Wenzel. Find out more about Principal Wenzel below as well as register for one or both of the Zoom Q&A sessions we will be hosting
Q&A with Principal Wenzel Thursday May 18 at 7pm and Tuesday May 23 at 7pm.
And last, but most certainly not least, give that car of yours a spring cleaning this Saturday from 9am to 2pm right here at SMA. Boy Scout Troop 943 is reporting for soap and suds duty. Come on by and support these fantastic kids!

Announcing Our New Permanent Principal, Wayne Wenzel Please help us welcome our new permanent principal, Wayne Wenzel! We couldn't be more excited to announce that Principal Wenzel will be joining our SMA family for the 2023/2024 school year and beyond. Principal Wenzel is a native Chicagoan who is returning home with his wife and children after living and working in Washington state. We look forward to seeing him on campus this summer once they get settled in, but in the meantime, we have scheduled two Zoom Q&A sessions, please join us and bring your questions! Q&A with Principal Wenzel Thursday May 18 at 7pm and Tuesday May 23 at 7pm. Attention All SMA Athletes Mandatory Forms Must Be on File Each year, IESA member schools are required to obtain completed sports physicals as well as a signed concussion acknowledgement/consent form to be kept on file for all student athletes. Please review and complete the documents linked below and return them to the school office for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. Keep in mind that both forms must be on file before the first day of practice for each student athlete. A student will not be allowed to participate in any athletic activities until all required documents have been received. Practices for our fall sports do begin in August, so allow ample time for your child’s physician to complete the forms so they are ready to go at the end of summer. Thank you for your cooperation, we are anticipating a very exciting upcoming year for our 2023-2024 SMA Mustangs! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Reykjalin in the school office at 773-631-7880 or jreykjalin@stmonicachicago. Dennis Uniform 15% Off Online Spring Sale |
