Dear St. Monica Academy Families,
I hope this message finds you all well.
First and foremost, I would like to thank 3rd grade student, Isabelle Zayas, for stepping in as our Principal for a Day on Monday. I thought she did an excellent job. Not only did she make some stellar announcements, but she also took it very seriously. I think we may have a budding educator on our hands, everyone.
I have been discussing the 5Essentials Survey quite a bit these past few weeks. Thank you for taking this so seriously. We are doing very well in terms of response rate. I am looking forward to the results, once they are available to me. If you have not completed this yet, please access the survey through this link. All surveys completed by parents, students, and faculty and staff are completely anonymous.
Today we will be holding our Mustang of the Month Assembly. Not only will we be name our three student and the faculty/staff member Mustangs of the Month as usual, but we will also be announcing our individual World’s Finest candy sales winner and the grade with the most sales. These will be shared with the community in the next newsletter.
In addition, in today’s Wednesday folders, you will find a letter from my office discussing volunteer hours. This is the letter that I have been referencing over the past two months in my weekly updates. I ask that you please read this.
On February 29th, we will be having our spring parent-teacher conferences. We have included the link to the conference schedule here for those that wish to participate. It is completely optional, unless a teacher has requested the meeting. Please follow the instructions found on the first page. We are on a half-day schedule on that day, but after care is available to all those who might need it.
Remember that Friday, March 1st is a non-student attendance day as the faculty and staff have an Archdiocese-wide professional development day. Students, please enjoy this day off.
On March 2nd, the students preparing to make their First Eucharist later this year will be meeting for their retreat in Beyenka all at 9:00 a.m. Each child needs one adult to stay with them throughout the morning. The retreat should end between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
Registration for spring athletics has been extended to Monday, March 4th at 8:45 a.m. There will be no exceptions beyond this extension.
Please remember that we began placing traffic horses and barriers to control the flow of traffic around the campus during drop-off and pick-up. This means you should travel south down Nottingham, west on Carmen Avenue, and north on Mont Clare. Although some may find this inconvenient, it will do us well to institute this in order to better protect our students as they arrive and depart from school.
Throughout Lent, we will also be participating in the Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 1:00 p.m. The middle school grades will participate on 3/8. First through fifth grade will participate on 3/15. The entire school will participate on 3/22. Please feel free to join us if you so desire.
Re-registration remains in progress. Earlier, we sent home re-registration forms and the tuition matrix for the 2024-2025 year. There are, of course, benefits to re-registering early. There are deadlines explained in the terms and conditions section that some may wish to take advantage of because of the potential discounts. Also, and this is important, to ease the registration process, if you are re-registering one student, but will have a new student joining us in the building next year (a re-registration + a new registration in any form), please contact Mrs. Reykjalin directly.
Finally, as always, visit the St. Monica Academy website to sign up for volunteer opportunities and to read about the importance of our fundraising efforts.
Go Mustangs!
St. Monica, Pray for Us!
In His Name,
Wayne Wenzel, Jr.
Principal
