Dear St. Monica Academy Families,

Despite the snow last weekend, spring has sprung and there has been lots of activity going on around SMA. Check out this newsletter to read about some of the great things happening such as the sixth-grade students recognized in Springfield at the 2023 Illinois Environmental Protection Agency's 2023 Poster, Poetry and Prose Contest, and the fierce resilience of our Mustang athletic teams!

SMA at Earth Awareness Fair in Springfield

On Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd, eight sixth-grade SMA students were recognized at the Earth Awareness Fair in Springfield for their work in the 2023 Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s 2023 Poster, Poetry, and Prose Contest: Environmental Justice: A Healthy Community for All!

Top Winner Awards went to Olivia B., Sophia F., Sephera H., Eleni M., Julia V., and Sophia Z, who each received a medal, certificate, and two books. An Honorable Mention Award went to Cassidy V., who received a ribbon, certificate, and one book. A Special Recognition Award went to Taylor P., who received a ribbon and a certificate. Mrs. Ronchi, their science teacher, also attended the awards ceremony held at the Henson Robinson Zoo. Congratulations to all!

Mustang Athletics

Congratulations to the SMA/SRB JV softball team for their victory on Monday. And a shoutout to the Mustang Varsity and JV Track and Field teams for battling the freezing temp last weekend.
