Dear St. Monica Academy Families,
I hope this message finds you all well.
Well, it’s over, but what a Boosterthon! We did incredibly well, and I know I have sent messages of thanks several times over the last few days, but I did want to say it one more time. Our goal was $20,000, but our community went above and beyond. We have now surpassed that goal (as of this writing) by $10,600, for a total of $30.600!! Thank you for your consistent support throughout. Congratulations to Ms. Osowski’s 1st grade classroom for leading the charge, as they were the classroom that raised the most. They were followed by Mrs. Price’s Kindergarten and Ms. Wilwers’ 4th grade. Nice job everyone! Shout-outs need to go to our top-3 individual fundraisers: Brooklyn Zieman (PreK-4, Gamboa), Julia Dizonno (4th grade), and Jose Rivera (PreK-3, Petracco). Not only were these students great, but we had a total of 96% of our students register and 92% of our students log at least one pledge. These are incredible numbers. I am also happy to say that we were able to receive pledges from 32 total states. Great job everyone!
As many of you know, several faculty and staff will be “slimed” in relation to Boosterthon. This will take place at the Mustang of the Month assembly on Tuesday, April 30th.
Congratulations to all of our 8th graders who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Friday. These students were “sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Isaiah 11:2 helps us understand that Seven Gifts come from the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. I hope all of you accept these gifts courageously and strengthen your faith because of each.
Today is Administrative Professionals’ Day. I would be remiss if I did not speak about our Office Manager, Mrs. Joanna Reykjalin. Please join me today, at any time, via email or briefly coming into the office, in thanking her for all she does for St. Monica Academy. Starting in July, my role here would have been exponentially tougher if it wasn’t for Mrs. Reykjalin. Her kindness and compassion, combined with her dedication to this institution, have made it easier to transition into the role I now hold in this community. So, thank you Joanna, for all that you do for our students, this school, and this entire community.
Congratulations are in order as our students competed in the track meet over the weekend at Notre Dame High School. Overall, in the JV track meet, SMA finished in 6th place of 13 competing schools. Individual accolades include:
Some further school news I'd like to bring to your attention
Re-registration remains in progress. Earlier, we sent home re-registration forms and the tuition matrix for the 2024-2025 year. Also, and this is important, to ease the registration process, if you are re-registering one student, but will have a new student joining us in the building next year (a re-registration + a new registration in any form), please contact Mrs. Reykjalin directly.
As always, visit the St. Monica Academy website to sign up for volunteer opportunities and to read about the importance of our fundraising efforts.
Go Mustangs!
St. Monica, Pray for Us!
