Dear St. Monica Academy Families,

Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s Back to School Night. It was uplifting to see our hallways and classrooms filled with families! I had an opportunity to speak with many of you and I value the input you provided me concerning your children, our school culture and learning. I take your desires for excellence seriously and look forward to working with all of you to continue our journey together in creating a Christ-centered culture of joy and excellence. If you wanted to speak with me last night and did not get the chance, or if at any point in the year have a concern, please reach out to me. I am happy to make an appointment to meet but you do not need an appointment to see me. If you are available during the day or at drop-off or pick up, please stop in. I am also happy to do a call with you. If you have a serious concern, I prefer to either speak on the phone or meet in person. I think email hinders the kind of personal interaction needed to solve problems together.

Home Language Survey – Please Return!

You received the Home Language Survey in your child’s Wednesday folder this week. This survey helps us get Federal Grant money for SMA to support our English Language Arts program. If your child spends any time with a family member or caretaker who speaks a language other than English, please indicate YES on the form. Your personal information is not shared with any other organization. I submit a report that contains only the total number of children at SMA who are exposed to languages other than English. The forms you submit are kept in the office and will be shredded when no longer needed. With the funds we receive we can purchase decodable reading books, leveled readers, phonics materials, websites for reading development and much more. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Movie Night!

Join us tomorrow night Friday, September 16 in the SMA parking lot for MOVIE NIGHT!!!! We will be airing Minions the Rise of Gru at 7:00 p.m. (or as soon as it is dark enough) Gates open at 6:30 p.m. so bring your lawn chairs and blankets and grab your spot early. Bring some snacks along or better yet get your concessions here before the movie begins and settle in for an easy night of fun with friends under the stars!

Out of Uniform for Pediatric Cancer Awareness

Tomorrow, Friday September 16 students may donate $1 in honor of pediatric cancer awareness month and come out of uniform in yellow or gold. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be contributed to Cal’s Angels. Learn more about Cal’s Angels here.

(All students must dress in keeping with our Catholic Identity. Ripped/Torn jeans are not allowed. Graphic t shirts with offensive language, gore, violent depictions, or weapons are not allowed. Tank tops/spaghetti straps are not allowed. Shirts must come to the waist.)

Athletic Board Dance
