Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Fr. Greg celebrated Mass this morning with the school children and parishioners. He emphasized the seriousness of Lent and for all of us to try to move closer to God during the next forty days and beyond. Fr. Greg reminded us of Lent being the most holy season in our liturgical calendar, which leads up to Easter and the Resurrection of Jesus. Fr. Greg talked to us about being more prayerful, to look for opportunities to help others through almsgiving, and to “fast” in a way that is appropriate for each age group. Tonight is an opportunity to view the Passion of Christ Play in the St. Monica Church with professional actors (free). If interested, the play will begin at 5:15 p.m. (English) and at 7:45 p.m. (Polish).

Mobil Grant - Last week, St. Monica Academy has received a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program to support our school. Victor Solia of Harlem and Foster Mobil at 5148 N. Harlem Ave. Harwood Heights, Illinois worked with us to secure this grant, which is one of 2,400 available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations. The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools. Over the years, Mr. Victor Solia and ExxonMobil have made it possible for St. Monica Academy to receive this grant. We appreciate their support!
