Region 2 Paper Session held at Guerin College Preparatory High School on February 29, 2020: 

• Paper Session Gold Awards: Jessica Amstadt (8), Caiden Frawley (8), Erica Lucena (8), and Grace Murphy (8)​​​​​

Caiden Frawley received a Superior Achievement Paper Award for scoring among the top six papers. He received a certificate, a $50 Amazon gift card, and a one-year Museum of Science and Industry family membership.

Jessica Amstadt, Caiden Frawley, Erica Lucena, and Grace Murphy all qualified to attend the IJAS State Science Exposition Paper Session, but it was cancelled this year.  Their outstanding efforts led to St. Monica Academy receiving the Top School Award for the 2020 IJAS Region 2 Paper Session and our school received a beautiful trophy
 

Due to the Illinois stay-at-home order, the Region 2 Poster Session was held Virtually this year from March 20-23, 2020:

• Poster Session Special Awards:
  • American Nuclear Society ($50, Book, Certificate): Kylie Tabang (8)
  • American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers:                ($100) Caiden Frawley (8); ($100) Luke Szafraniec (8)
  • Concept Schools-Outstanding Earth Science Project ($25, Certificate) Haley O’Donnell (7)
  • Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (Project Highlighted in Social Media, T-shirt, Digital Certificate) Erica Lucena (8)

Luke Szafraniec and Haley O’Donnell  received Superior Achievement Poster Awards for scoring among the top ten posters. They each received a medallion, a $50 Amazon gift card, and a one-year Museum of Science and Industry family membership.  Erica Lucena, Kenzo Trespeces-Winck, and Grace Murphy also received medallions.  All five of these students qualified to attend the IJAS State Science Exposition Poster Session, but due to the current environment, the in person session was cancelled.We re sorry for the disappoint of not being able to attend, but are incredibly proud of of our young scienctists!
