Dear St. Monica Academy Families,
Poster, Poetry, and Prose Competition: Great News from the Illinois EPA! We received word that SMA has four of the 12 top winners in the state and one honorable mention in the 2021 Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s Poster, Poetry, and Prose Contest. The theme this year was Fight Food Waste: Our Environment Can’t Be Replaced! The Top Winner Awards were earned by 6th graders Chloe Colosetti, Ava Kroll, Mia Reykjalin, and Brigid Wiss for Poetry/Prose. Honorable Mention Award was earned by Veronika Kozan for her Poster. Congratulations to all!
Regional Science Fair Competition: We are also very pleased to share the results of the 2021 IJAS Region 2 Science Exposition Paper and/or Poster Sessions held virtually during the past couple of weeks. All of our 7th and 8th graders worked so hard on their projects and papers.

Great job to all of our students! We also want to express our thanks to Ms. Alex Calcagno, Mr. Marc Colavitti, Mr. Bob Hilger, Mrs. Susan Hilger, Mrs. Nicole Petracco, Mr. Joe Ronchi, and Mrs. Karen Ronchi, who helped to make the Region 2 virtual science fair possible by serving as Safety, Paper Session, and Poster Session judges from St. Monica Academy.
Absences: Please continue to report any absences to the school office at 773-631-7880 and fill out the following Google Form each morning when your child is sick. If we do not receive a call from you by 9:00 a.m., we will call you. Please keep your child home and let me know if he or she is sick or experiencing any Covid symptoms.
Quarantine Guidelines for Easter Break: St. Monica Academy continues to follow changes in COVID-19 guidance from state and local health departments. As you may be aware, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) recently revised their travel and quarantine restrictions as well as their travel advisory map. Please review these Quarantine Guidelines. This map is updated every other Tuesday.
Reminder: Tomorrow, Friday March 19th is a dress down day in the color red in honor of St. Joseph’s Day.
